LEW Quiz #3

1. Adrian R - April 2018

2. Flare up - ignite quickly and suddenly, especially after having died down

3. The correct sentence is, we had a very good trip last weekend. Travel is only used as a noun and last needs to be used because it is the previous weekend.

4. C. of

5. The idiom means - to have cause for making a complaint to someone

6. Curious – when someone is interested in learning about what is around them It also means it's odd, strange or unusual.

Interesting – when something gets your attention because it may be unusual, exciting, or has a lot of ideas

7. 4

8. A light mid afternoon meal of tea and sandwiches or cakes

9. The correct sentence is Sergio would like to be by himself this evening, he is tired of people. The reason for this is the other 2 sentences are wrong and there are no errors in this sentence.

The 1st sentence is wrong because anything is used with a negative verb and nothing is used with a positive verb.

The 2nd sentence is wrong because much + uncountable noun and many + plural noun, in addition, homework is an uncountable noun.

The 3rd sentence is grammatically correct.

10. B & D are the correct statements.

If anyone would like any explanation on the answers, please don't hesitate in contacting me.

Next week's quiz will take place on Monday 20th April and a prize will be given to the winner. I hope everyone can take part next week.

Enjoy your weekend and stay at home.
