Welcome to the 4th LEW quiz and we will find out how knowledgeable you are about the English language, LEW history and some ‘unrelated’ English culture. You may use the LEW website and Facebook page but no other websites. The questions will be released every Monday and answers will be given on the Friday of the same week. Give it a go and see how you get on.

LEW Quiz #4 Answers


1. In spite of/ despite + ing/noun or pronoun (this,that,etc.)

Although + subject + verb

Apart from the grammatical structure, the meaning is the same as they both indicate contrast.

3. Sometimes, I’ve got a sandwich for my lunch is incorrect because have got is not used in expressions, such as have lunch.

Does Morgan have a news for me is incorrect because news is an uncountable noun.

Eleanor is having a chat with her best friend is grammatically correct.
